International Baccalaureate

Vertex Partnership Academies is a Candidate School* for the International Baccalaureate (IB): Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career-related Programme (CP). This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Vertex believes is important for our students.

In 2023, Vertex Partnership Academies plans to apply for candidacy for the IB Diploma and IB Career-related Programmes. Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its academic programs.

At the end of 10th grade, each Vertex scholar will be empowered to choose either: (1) the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme that prepares them to enroll and thrive in premier colleges and universities in the country or abroad; or (2) the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme that prepares them to enter the labor market with professional skills and knowledge in a particular industry sector.

Why the IB?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) pioneered a movement of international education in 1968, and over 50 years in across 159 countries, it has become a world renowned leader of high quality and challenging educational programs. The IB offers Vertex Partnership Academies students a unique curriculum with high academic standards, that champions critical thinking and a flexibility for learning by crossing disciplinary, cultural and national boundaries for our international community in the Bronx. By partnering with the IB in a city with a rich diversity of cultures and a wide array of world class museums, galleries, and organizations, we will provide our students with a world class educational experience that will open doors to a world of opportunities.
