School Design

Each Vertex Partnership Academy is structured into a Lower School and Upper School.

In the Vertex Partnership Academies Lower School, each student-scholar will complete a rigorous foundational program in the liberal arts and sciences that emphasizes knowledge and thinking through writing workshops, Socratic seminars, inquiry-based learning, and character education designed to focus on character, virtues and values in the interest of human flourishing.

In the Vertex Partnership Academies Upper School, student-scholars will choose a final two-year International Baccalaureate pathway that empowers them to be a graduate of either the Diploma Program, that has prepared them to enter and compete in the finest colleges and universities in the country or abroad; or the Career Program, that has prepared them to more immediately enter the labor market with professional skills and knowledge in a particular industry sector.

Each year, students at Vertex Partnership Academies will engage in at least one collaboratively planned interdisciplinary unit that involves at least two subject groups.

Students will also complete a long-term project where they decide what they want to learn about, identify what they already know, discover what they will need to know to complete the project, and create a proposal or criteria for completing it.
